The Philips Hue Signe Gradient is a slim, elegant smart table lamp for anyone who wants colourful ambient light on a desk, a shelf or a bedside table. It blends several colours along its black aluminium column and is controlled from the Hue app.
In this page we look at its design, everyday use and key specifications, then tell you who it makes sense for and who should skip it. The figures come from the official Philips Hue product page.
The Signe Gradient is a very slim lamp: according to Philips Hue it is 553 mm tall with a 111 × 111 mm base. Its black aluminium body gives it a sober, graphic look that fits a tidy desk or a living-room corner.
Its signature is the gradient effect: several colours melt into each other along the column. Switched off it stays a discreet silhouette; switched on it becomes a real piece of decor you want to leave on display.
You control it over Bluetooth from the Hue app, with no Wi-Fi needed. With a Hue Bridge (sold separately) you unlock more features, including Matter. According to Philips Hue it works with Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home and Samsung SmartThings.
It is mostly ambient lighting: a warm tone in the evening, a bold colour for gaming or a film, a more neutral white during the day. For precise work on paper or at a keyboard, keep a proper desk lamp next to it.
According to Philips Hue the lamp delivers 730 lm at 2700 K and 1040 lm at 4000 K. Its colour temperature ranges from 2000 to 6500 K, with white and colour (RGBW) light and a power draw of 8.7 W.
It uses Bluetooth and Zigbee, plugs into 220–240 V mains with a 2 m cable and is not portable. It is rated IP20, so keep it indoors.
It suits you if you like tech objects with character and want to add colourful light to your desk, living room or bedroom, with simple control from your phone or voice. If you already own Hue bulbs or lamps, it fits naturally into your scenes.
It makes less sense if you want powerful, adjustable task lighting, an object to carry from room to room or a setup without an app. In those cases a classic LED desk lamp or a portable light will suit you better.
No. According to Philips Hue the lamp is controlled over Bluetooth from the Hue app, without Wi-Fi. The Hue Bridge, sold separately, adds extra features, including Matter.
