Data we process

Messages sent through the contact form (name, e-mail, content), kept for as long as it takes to reply.
Technical server logs (IP, user agent) for the duration of a diagnosis, on the host’s side.
Anonymous audience measurement, hosted with the site: page viewed, how far it was read, the domain you came from (for example “google.com”, never the full address), and which product links were seen and clicked. It tells us which guides are useful.
The country of your connection, deduced from your IP address without storing it, and only to choose the right Amazon store for the links (database IP Geolocation by DB-IP, kept on our server: no third-party service is called). Failing that, the language settings of your browser decide. Both are used for that page only; nothing is stored about you. The click log keeps only which store the link pointed to.

What we do not do

No user account, no automatic newsletter, no advertising pixel. No third-party script is loaded on these pages: no Google Analytics, no social network, no ad network. The measurement described above goes to our own server.

It uses no cookie. The session identifier is a random number kept in the tab and erased when it closes: it cannot recognise you from one visit to the next, nor follow you on other sites.

Amazon and the Associates Programme

When you click a special link to Amazon (amazon.com.be in Belgium, amazon.fr elsewhere, possibly redirected by Amazon to your country’s store), Amazon may record that the visit came from Tech & Life in order to calculate a commission. Amazon is then responsible for its own processing. See Amazon’s privacy and cookie policies.

Under the Associates agreement, Amazon may monitor the use of special links on this site, including whether a click preceded a qualifying purchase.
