Why this model
A 60 cm horizontal head, the laptop slides underneath.
For a home-office desk with a screen, the Dyson Solarcycle Morph is the one that settles the question for good: its optical head rotates 360° to put the light exactly where it is needed, and it adjusts its own tint and brightness to daylight.
On a small desk, the Xiaomi LED Desk Lamp 2 suspends a 60 cm head horizontally, with room for a laptop underneath. If budget comes first, the Xiaomi Desk Lamp Lite does the essentials, provided you accept a fixed light tint.

What matters when choosing
- The head, before the power
- A wide head pointing down lights the keyboard and the page without touching the panel. A small round head set high always ends up reflected in the screen.
- Adjustable colour temperature
- Neutral white for working in the daytime, warmer in the evening. A fixed-tint lamp forces a compromise for the whole day.
- How much room the foot takes
- On a shared table, a 25 cm base gets in the way as much as it lights. A clamp or a flat base settles the question.
