Which monitor arm to choose for a home office

Raising the screen to eye level is the one adjustment that changes the whole day. Three arms, three screen sizes.

Short answer

For a 24 or 27 inch screen the Suptek is enough, and it is the cheapest of the three. For a 34 inch ultrawide or larger you need the VIVO: the reach and the load rating are not comparable.

The HEMUDU only makes sense in one specific case: a low desk, or occasional standing work, where you need column height more than reach.

How these were chosen

Screen size, before anything else
An undersized arm sags within weeks. Look at the upper limit quoted, not the lower one.
The thickness of your desktop
The clamp needs 2 to 6 cm of solid material. A glass top or a rounded edge changes how you mount it.
Height or reach
Raising the screen and pushing it back are two different movements. Tall columns rise well but do not reach far.

Start with measurements, not with the catalogue

Three numbers decide the rest: your screen diagonal, its weight with the stand removed, and the thickness of your desktop. All three are written down somewhere — on the back of the screen, in its manual, and under your desk with a tape measure.

A lot of remote work happens at a dining table. The top there is often thicker than a desk, sometimes 4 cm, and that is exactly the dimension cheap clamps will not take.

What an arm actually changes

It frees the surface under the screen, which is often enough to get back somewhere to write by hand. And it makes the adjustment reversible: you can correct the height during the day instead of living with whatever the original stand gives you.

What it does not change: if your chair is too low, raising the screen only moves the strain from your neck to your shoulders. Seat height comes first.

How these three were chosen

These are not laboratory tests. They are three available models whose specifications cover three distinct, verifiable situations: a normal screen, an ultrawide, a low desk.

Each card below also says when not to choose it. That is often the more useful piece of information.

Frequently asked questions

How high should the screen be?
Top of the panel at eye level, or just below. The gaze drops naturally; it does not rise without straining the neck.
Will a monitor arm damage the desk?
The clamp marks the surface if you tighten it bare. A scrap of felt or the supplied pad between the jaw and the wood prevents the mark.
My screen has no VESA mount — now what?
Many consumer monitors hide the four holes under a clip-off stand. If they really are absent, adapters exist that grip the screen, but they add leverage.
